Spencer Reporter
Orville W. Chapman died at his home near Ruthven, IA., Feb 15, 1890, of cancer of the stomach. He ws born in Sharon, Wis., Aug 10, 1846. His mother died when he was five years old but he found a welcome and loving care in the home of his brother Franklin, with whom he livved till early manhood, coming to Fayette county in 1853. In 1871 he settled on a farm in Clay county, where he resided until his death. He leaves a wife and three children, three sisters and fie brothers and a wide circle of relatives and friends to mourn, but they are comforted with the thought that he sleeps in Jesus. About six years ago he met with a severe bereavement in the acciental death, by drowning, of his oldest child, at which time he found peace and consolation in the Master's service; since when he has lived a devoted and exemplary christian life. the funeral services were held in the M.E. church at Rughven, the pastor, Rev. R. Hill, speaking words of comfort from Psalms 16, 11.23
